Alright, so I’m a 16 year old sophomore guy who lives somewhere in the USA. I’m not just any ordinary guy though. I’m a Roman Catholic. I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead and miraculously rose again on the third day. He ascended into Heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity, a trinity of three persons in one God. I believe in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church! A Church that is God’s amazing gift to us, to guide us in all Truth and to protect Unity. I believe in the Communion of Saints: the Church Triumphant (souls in Heaven), the Church Militant (us, souls on Earth), and the Church Suffering (souls in Purgatory, on their way to Heaven). I believe that we are all bound to one another in community through the Body of Christ. I believe in the forgiveness of sins, though Christ’s most holy sacrifice on the Cross. I believe in God’s gifts of the Sacraments, making visible what is invisible. I believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. I believe in the healing power of Confession. I also believe in the Resurrection of the Body, where at the end of the world, our souls will rise in their glorified state, to be rejoined with our souls in Heaven, where those who accept God’s Love will enjoy eternity with Him and with their Brothers and Sisters for all eternity. Remember, there ain’t no party like a Catholic party, cause a Catholic party DON’T STOP! Yeah! I believe in Love. I believe that God is Love. I believe that our deepest desire is for faithful, lasting Love…actually I know so. And “love” centered on seeking pleasure ultimately gives no life at all. I believe that, as God has poured out Love on us, we are to turn, nourished and energized, to share that Love with the world. It is our life’s mission. I live for Love, and I live for God. Unfortunately though, I often fail at this calling. I know where I’m heading though, and that’s good. “Rowing harder doesn't help if your boat is headed in the wrong direction…” Adhering to Church teaching and using my God-given ability to reason, I value and respect life. A mother that kills her own child…I can think of few crimes that are more sickening. The child is God’s gift to the family, to the world. Contraception is also wrong. If you are a Catholic and ignore the Church’s teaching on contraception then you are pretty much a PROTESTant against the Church’s God-given authority just as much as Protestants are. This teaching can be hard to understand, but with the John Paul II’s AMAZING Theology of the Body, it all makes sense. I don’t care who you are or what you do, you’re human: READ THEOLOGY OF THE BODY! Christopher West has written a few abridged forms of the original book by JP2, so you can’t say it’s too long and hard!
My life began about 17 years ago in a California apartment. Nine months later I was born in Maine where I have lived ever since. I have an oldest brother, and older sister, and two younger brothers (5 of us total). Yep, I’m a middle child – all you middle childs out there, raise your hand! Don’t we rock! It’s like this inate thing that just happened to middle children, we’re amazing. :-P So yeah, my life has had its ups and downs so far. When I was like 8-12 I always wore my shorts really high with my shirt tucked in, in addition to wearing like foot-high socks, sometimes with sandals. *shudders* But those were the dark ages, let us speak of brighter things! In 2000 I joined Boy Scouts which made me grow up a bit. In the summer of 2003 I think it was, my family took this huge 6 week long vacation Out West to visit like the Grand Canyon and Rockies and Bryce, and Yosemite and swim in the Pacific, and go to Glacier and Teddy Roosevelt NP, etc…. It was a great experience. Oh, I’ve been homeschooled all my life. Do I like it? Well enough. It has its pros and cons. I wish it was a little more social, but in the end I think I’m glad to be homeschooled. I made my Eagle Scout in August of 2005, but just got awarded it this last March (’06).
I’m also a huge Lord of the Rings/Tolkien fan. I was a fan before the movies came out. I’ve read the trilogy 4 times, the Hobbit twice, and the Silmarillion only once. And then of course I’ve seen the movies numerous times. I love both the books and the movies. My favorite characters are Aragorn, Faramir, and Eowyn, and I also love the Eagles. If I could move anywhere in Middle Earth it’d probably be either Minas Tirith or Rivendell. I also enjoy archery, and even though I’m not that good yet, I like to shoot orc faces on the target…right in between the eyes like Legolas, oh yeah… Another thing you’ll find out if you know me is that I sometimes talk in a LotR/Middle Age type of voice just randomly casually. Like, “come hither” or “it is three hours ere the rising of the sun” or “cuio vae!”. Yeah, I also quote Tolkien a lot…perhaps too much. I try not to annoy people who aren’t fans by not overusing my lingo around them. I also love to play Ultimate Frisbee! It’s just a great game. Soccer’s fun too. I used to play baseball it wasn’t really my thing. I’m a Red Sox fan though. My brother’s an extreme fanatic ‘bout them. I’m also a faithful New Englander and root for the Patriots. Some of my nicknames are Bojoseph, Jing, Sheen, and Squash.
Let’s see, other random things about me…I’m tall and skinny, but I’m trying to lessen my skinniness (no not by overeating…which wouldn’t work anyways…., but by muscling up!) I have shortish brown hair, blue eyes, and a huge Adam’s apple like you don’t even know. A long neck too, haha. Oh, on Myers-Briggs, I’m an ISTJ personality type. That’s Introverted, Sensing (thinking more tangibly than abstract…), Thinking (make decisions based more so on reason than feeling), and Judging (organized & orderly). I’m introverted, and I tend to be quieter some of the time, but I occasionally have random outbursts of outgoingness that I can barely even seem to control. I think it really depends on where I am and who I’m with. It usually takes me a little while to get to know someone well enough to feel comfortable enough around them to show my true self, which I know is stupid, but that’s how it is. Once I’m with people I know well though, I can be somewhat of a joker. I’ve been told I’m dependable, friendly, organized, accepting, caring, cheerful, clever, confident, energetic, animated, happy, intelligent, kind, logical, loving, mature (haha, sometimes…), modest, observant, patient (haha again), reflective, sensible, silly, spontaneous, trustworthy, wise, and witty. (http://kevan.org/johari?name=elessar51) I’ve also been told I’m a gentleman, which is probably true, cause I love to serve the ladies. Just things like opening the door for them and stuff feels good to do. I also have been told I’m fun to be around, but who knows? They could’ve just been saying that. How about you come hang out sometime and you can see for yourself. Actually I love getting to know new people, but if you’re a complete stranger and you’re reading this, or a stalker, then no, I think I’d rather not want to meet you. Have a great life though.
I like to write, and I’ve been told I’m good at it, which is somewhat true. I love learning random new words, and sometimes (geek alert!) I go looking through the Dictionary for that sole purpose. Did you know that “phocine” means “resembling a seal”. As in, “YOUR FACE is phocine!” haha, I love it… I actually keep a doc on the computer just for recording all these words. I also love quotes, funny and inspirational and I have like over 10 pages of favorite quotes. I like to edit pictures on the computer, and make em funny. I like to use Windows Movie Maker whenever I can to put together mini-productions. I also love taking pictures and snapshots with my digital camera. It’s a Canon Powershot A520, pretty good.
Oh I also love Maine Catholic Youth Ministry! (CYM) It’s amazing and I love all the people there. Convention is sooooo amazing! But it’s all the people that make it amazing, it really is. I was on CYCC (Catholic Youth Communications Council) last year, but I’m just gonna be a normal participant for next year. I also love going to retreats like Journey and Steubenville East. Those two are my favorite annual events. I also like going down to D.C. every January to partake in the annual March for Life, but hopefully we won’t need that for very much longer. I love good fun times, great friends, and deep spiritual experiences. My patron saint (for Confirmation) is John Paul the Great, cause he will be a saint soon enough.
Okay could this get put in any more of a random order?....
Let’s see, things that annoy me are (better be careful here) when people grind ice with their teeth loudly; when your trying to put a board game away and you had stuck the bottom inside the top and pick it up and get the top of the box to fall off again (if that made any sense…); and also when the dogs running around by the door like crazy like it’s gonna let loose all over the floor right there, and so then you take it outside and it takes like 10 minutes just deciding where to poop! “oh this hill looks nice *sniff sniff* oh nope, already claimed! Let’s try over here now……….” Gosh! Also it’s annoying when someone puts the cereal back without anything in it but sawdust. (I love cereal!). Oh, and unpacking after trips is always a pain cause you’re sooo tired.
Things that make my day are getting back from somewhere and seeing a bunch of messages on my AIM; reading a brand new entry in my guestbook.
I also love roller coasters and thrill rides. And good jokes. And riddles. Oh and I love movies. Nothing like a good, wholesome movie. I like drama, action mostly, and also comedy. I love books too. Sci-Fi and Fantasy mostly. I really like clouds, sitting on roofs, and canoeing.
Okayyyyyyyyyyy! If you read though it all this far……then wow! Thanks for being over-interested in my life. Hope to talk to you soon and God bless always!
